Betty Jo Cary, 87, passed away on February 24, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Paducah, TX on June 8, 1925 to Roy and Ada Criswell. Betty Jo attended school in Paducah, graduating as valedictorian in 1942. She attended John Tarleton College for Business in Stephenville, TX. She married Dick E. Reed in 1944, who preceded her in death in 1956. Years later, she married Ben E. Cary in 1962, who preceded her in death in 1994. She worked at Bob Wood Chevrolet Company in Paducah as well as Pollard Ford, Lubbock Auto, Morris Auto Supply and Sax Engine Parts, all in Lubbock, before retirement. She was a member of Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church in Lubbock.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Roy M. and Ada L. Criswell. She is survived by a brother, John R Criswell and wife Joanna; a son, Richard Reed and wife Charlene; a grandson, Derek Fielding and wife Amanda; 2 granddaughters, Meagan Reed and Casey Fielding; a great-grandchild, Mikeuel Fielding; a nephew Tim Criswell and wife Terri; a niece Leigh Ann Raymond and husband Lee as well as 2 great nephews and 1 great niece.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Aldersgate Methodist Church, Lubbock, Monday, March 4 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the local Hospice.
