Samuel Knooihuizen Obituary

Samuel Lee Knooihuizen, age 76 went home to be with his Lord on January 9, 2020 in Lubbock, TX after a long illness.  Born on February 16, 1943 to Samuel J. & Anne G. (Kanaar) Knooihuizen in Muskegon, Michigan. He enjoyed his childhood years growing up on Mona Lake.  After graduating from Muskegon High School in 1961, Sam went to Ferris State University and received a degree in accounting in 1967. After college he worked as a Sherriff Deputy for Muskegon County and joined the Navy.  Once discharged from the Navy, he returned home where he worked at Hackley Hospital where he met his wife of 43 years. 

 In 1980 Sam and family moved to Dallas, Texas where he worked and later retired from the City of Dallas.  During their years in Dallas, the Knooihuizen family attended Bethel CRC which later became Bethel Presbyterian Church.  In 2013 Sam and Karen moved to Lubbock, Texas to be closer the their grandchildren.  

Sam is proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousin.  He is survived by his wife Karen (Twiss) Knooihuizen, one daughter Amy Schipper, son-in-law Jonathan Schipper, and three grandchildren Joshua Schipper, Ashton Schipper, and Jayden Schipper all of Lubbock, TX.

 

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday January 13, 2020 at Providence Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, TX.  Providence PCA is located at 3301 34th St. Lubbock, TX 79410.
