Bentley Rhea Obituary

Bentley Craig Rhea, age 62, died Sunday, April 24, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born October 16, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas, son of Sharon McInroe and Carlos Rhea.

First and foremost, Bentley was a Christian who had a deep spiritual connection with the Lord. He lived his life to help others in need and inspired folks to overcome even the most difficult challenges. After suffering a stroke in 2006, he used his recovery to minister to others about the importance of following doctor’s advice and taking medications to prevent health emergencies.

Bentley worked as a bookkeeper and radio installer for Commercial Radio in Lubbock for over 30 years. He served as a Printer’s Assistant at Midtown Printing in Lubbock, Texas and Apparel Associate for Walmart in Lubbock, Texas.

Bentley was an animal lover.  Over the years, he took care of cats, birds, ducks, chickens, roosters, a pig, goldfish and goats and shared a special bond with his beloved Schnauzers, Sassy & Tara; Labs, Boomer & Raider, and a ring-necked dove named, “Mr. Febs”.

Bentley had several hobbies including collecting Beanie Babies, Angels, crosses, antique glassware, gift cards, matchbooks, and many other oddities including a real windmill. He was extremely creative and always working on unique projects around his house. Bentley loved going to estate sales, garage sales and auctions where he always managed to find a treasure. He was also no stranger to the BINGO Hall or Casino. After his stroke, Bentley participated in several speaking engagements with Toastmasters in Lubbock, providing insight into his recovery.

Friends were everything to Bentley. He made a point to reach out and develop numerous close friendships. He opened his arms and extended hospitality to others without hesitation. Bentley was always there for folks in need and expected nothing in return.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon McInroe (and husband Frank) of Lubbock, Texas, Father, Carlos Rhea of Lubbock, Texas, Sister, Tasa Lingor (and husband Kevin) of Plano, Texas, a niece and two nephews as well as multitude of friends and extended family members.

Bentley was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Garland and Geneva Hartsfield of Lubbock, Texas and paternal grandparents, Andy Rhea and Katherine Page (and husband Ernie) of Lubbock, Texas.

Memorials may be made to: Texas Boys Ranch, 4810 N County Road 2800, Lubbock, Texas 79403
