ERNEST FLORES GUERRERO, 63, of Lubbock, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Trinity Fellowship Church, 10326 Upland Ave. with Pastor Bo Williams officiating.
Ernest was born in Littlefield, Texas, November 15, 1957. He graduated in 1977 from Lubbock Evening High School, Lubbock, Texas. He pursued higher education at and graduated from Texas State Technical Institute of Sweetwater, Texas with a degree in Livestock and Ranch Operations; and he further graduated from VTI (Video and Technical Institute) in Dallas, Texas, with a degree in Veterinary Assistant and then went on to work on Key Allegro Island in Rockport, Texas.
Ernest left Rockport to become an OTR Truck Driver for United Stationers Supply Company for twelve years where he received his first award for 1,000,000 Safe Miles. He then spent another sixteen years as an OTR Truck Driver for Western International Gas & Cylinder, where he earned his second award for 1,000,000 Safe Miles in 2012, followed by the 2015 Driver of the Year Award.
Ernest married Valerie Collins, March 19, 2005, at Shallowater First United Methodist Church. He officially retired in September 2016. Ernest was a faithful member of Trinity Fellowship Church in Lubbock, Texas.
Survivors include his wife; mother-in-law, Louise Blackburn and brother-in-law, Vince Collins. Other members include sister-in-law, Lisa Guerrero, three sisters, Mary Guerrero, Teresa Impson, Pauline Guerrero, and five brothers, Roy, Sandy, Tony, Lee Ray and Trena Guerrero, and youngest brother George Eddie Guerrero, in Belize. Ernest leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, John Flores Guerrero, Sr., and Mary Lou Guerrero, his brother, John Flores Guerrero, Jr., nephews, Aaron Guerrero and Ernie Gonzales, his father-in-law, Chuck Collins, step-father-in-law, Stanley Blackburn.
