Jaime Renee Smith-Villarta went home to her savior on April 21st, 2020 after her brave fight with cancer. She was born in Ft. Worth on March 21, 1970 to James Denny Smith and Brenda Kay Brunson. Jaime is survived by her children, Jordan Victoria Longoria(husband Jeremiah Longoria) and her son Jeffrey Allan Smith, brothers Jerry Dean Smith and Jeff Scott, sisters; Jenny Victoria Garcia, and Dannette Baker, 7 nieces and nephews and their children, and her parents.
Jaime graduated from Roosevelt High School and worked in Social Work for over 20 years, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Texas Tech University. She earned her Master’s degree in Psychology from Wayland Baptist University. Jaime was dedicated to her family and siblings and enjoyed spending her time with them.
Jaime was a born again Christian. She always had a belief in God and raised her two kids to know that God is real, but it was not until recently that she rededicated her life to the Lord. In 2018, Jaime started going to church again with her daughter at Church of the Blessed International, became a member, and got rebaptized. The love of God had always been in her and after her rededication it flourished and touched everyone around her in a new way. Jaime's love and compassion for people impacted many lives on a daily basis. From her career as a social worker, to a member in a church, to a stranger on the street, Jaime wanted to help as many people as possible. Having a relationship with Christ only intensified the light that was already inside of her. With her passing as a saved woman in Christ, she brought the hope to her family of one day being able to see her again. There is no greater gift. Jaime is now watching over her family from heaven, just as she did while she walked the earth.
A memorial service honoring Jaime’s life will be held Saturday, June 6th at First Baptist Church Roosevelt, 1413 County Rd 3300, Lubbock, at 2:00 p.m.
