Juanell Cunyus Kelley was born Jan 18, 1937, in Lockney, Texas to Betha Anna Carthel Cunyus and Frank Allen Cunyus. She was the youngest of 4 children.
She grew up in Lockney, Texas. She graduated from Lockney High School in 1955. She married Ewell Hunt Kelley in August of 1958 and then graduated from Texas Technological College in 1959, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
She and Ewell lived in Lubbock until moving to Dimmitt, Texas in 1967.
She taught at Dimmitt High School for 27 years; teaching typing, short-hand, and business law. Following her retirement in 1996, she worked as a substitute teacher for another 10 years. She loved teaching and loved her students. She was a longtime supporter of the Dimmitt Athletic programs and rarely missed a sports event involving the Dimmitt Bobcats and Bobbies. She loved her children and her grandchildren. She attended every event she could to watch them play ball, cheer, swim and sing. She loved family get-togethers and reunions. She had the best Christmas Eve games with prizes and her Christmas carols printed and ready to sing.
She is survived by her son, Greg Kelley and wife Kelly of Levelland, TX.
Daughters, Cindy Broussard and husband Andre of Lubbock, TX and Kristi Cox and husband Frank of Tomball, TX. Her grandchildren: Sam Kelley and his wife Billie, Ben Kelley, Bethany Broussard, Katy Cox and Charlie Cox.
She was excited to find out she has a great grandchild arriving in August.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, and 3 siblings.
