Una Maurice (Bearden) Sever, 93 of Lubbock, crossed peacefully through heaven’s gates on July 14, 2022. She was born August 12, 1928, in Hope, AK to Una Ann (Yarbrough) Bearden and George Dewey Bearden. She was the 2nd of 5 children. She graduated from Anton High School in Anton, TX. After high school she moved to Lubbock where she worked at Citizens National Bank. She attended church at Asbury UMC where she met the love of her life, James Sever. They married on August 30, 1947.
After living in Stinnett, TX, they moved back to Lubbock to raise their family. She eventually began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring from there to spend more time enjoying her grandkids and traveling to Ruidoso, NM with James, hiking and playing golf.
She became an active member of St. Luke’s UMC where she taught kindergarten Sunday school. She volunteered in various ways through the years, serving as class secretary and treasurer of the John Wesley Sunday school class for many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; brother, George; sister Dale Lewis; brother, Harlan; and grandson, Chris.
She is survived by her three children: Randy (Eileen) of Albuquerque, NM; Steve (Amy) of Lubbock, TX; and Sandra Lewis (Jimmy) of Converse, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Reva Godwin of Plano, TX, 9 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, July 23, 2022 with graveside at 10AM at Resthaven, followed by a memorial service at 11AM at St. Luke’s UMC on 3708 45th, Lubbock, TX.
