Melva Hackler Obituary

Sue Hackler (Melva Charlene Sue Idsardi) was born July 26th, 1935 in Okmulgee, OK. On a small dairy farm where she lived until she graduated from Okmulgee High School. While on the farm she was very active in the farm work, 4H, and in raising prized hogs. She was very active in home demonstration activities with her mother, and she aspired to be a home economics teacher wherever she was.

She won scholarships for Oklahoma A&M College for her work in raising hogs and for farm record keeping. While at Oklahoma A&M College she met Joe Hackler and married him in 1955. In 1957 they moved to Dallas and lived there for 5 years, where both their sons were born. They later moved to Lubbock, TX because of Joe’s work. She continued her education at Texas Tech University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education after many years of effort.

Sue was a member of Westmont Christian Church from 1962 until she passed away, this made her the longest active member of Westmont before her death. There she sang in the choir, never missed a women’s meeting, and loved helping with food on a Wednesday Night. Westmont and the people were her family and she really enjoyed being in church.

Sue loved travel and really enjoyed playing board games and finishing puzzles. She had a loving heart and always had her hand out to help anyone who needed it.

After a long illness, she finally received her final reward. She passed away on November 23rd, 2023 rejoining her family and friends and will live with Christ forever. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sons, Don and Steve, and many friends.
