Michael James Qualls

Michael James Qualls, passed away on November 3rd 2021 twenty days shy of his 64th birthday. Born in Lubbock, Texas on November 23rd 1957 to Mary Long and Roy Qualls, Mike was a free spirit with a deep love for his family and a passion for music. He traveled quite a bit in his younger days going across the country collecting stories and maybe causing a little chaos before returning to Lubbock to raise a family. Mike was a journeyman electrician in Lubbock for many years working on commercial buildings like the hospitals and police station before retirement. He was a hard working man who believed in taking pride in what you do. Some would even say he was a perfectionist when it came to his craft. He always said if you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life and he truly loved what he did. So much so that he would wake up and get to as he called it "go play".

Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Logan, parents, Mary Long & Roy Qualls, and grandmother, Bertie Long. He is survived by his sister, Delores Buckaloo, children Linda Riegel, Larry "Bubba" Burleson, Lance Burleson, & Randall Douglass and granddaughter, Stephanie Qualls. As well as great grandchildren Marley Alburtis and Vincent Bouscher.

He will be remembered by all of the stories he would tell and all of the lessons he taught. A memorial service will be held at South Plains Church of Christ (6802 Elkhart Ave) Friday November 12th at 4pm. If you would like to send flowers or arrangements they may be sent to the church. Guests are encouraged to enter at the south doors take a right down the hallway to the elevators on the right. The elevators will take you to the second floor directly across from room 215 where the memorial will be held. All are welcome to join us in celebrating Mike's life.
