Rodney Cortez

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rodney Cortez is scheduled at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Family Worship Center, located at 2102 - 36th Street, Lubbock, Texas. He went to be with the LORD, Thursday, February 23, 2023. 

On December 30th, 1966, Rodney Cortez was born to Guadalupe H. Cortez and Irene Cerda Cortez in Lubbock, Texas. His family was a source of incredible joy and pride for him.

Rodney was a friend to everyone.  He loved cooking for his family and friends, camping, boating, and spending time out at the lake with his sons and granddaughters.

Our lives were blessed by his love, generosity, and great spirit of joy and fun.  He is loved by many and will leave a void in our hearts and lives…but the thought of him spreading that joy and fun in Heaven just leaves us all smiling and thankful for him and Jesus.

Rodney is survived by the love of his life, Sandra Cortez; children, Rodney James Cortez (Venessa), Lupe Cortez, mother, Irene Cerda Cortez; siblings, Mary (Albert) Gutierrez, Elsie (Roy) Delgado, Debbie (Martin) Saldana; grandchildren, Ava & Kylie Cortez, all whom he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe H. Cortez; sister, Joelda (Jody) Cortez; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his beloved dogs Gio and Enzo.

We truly appreciate all your thoughts, prayers, and acts of kindness.  Thank you to everyone who loved Cortez!
